My name is Carren, I’m an alcoholic.
At the age of 12, I was stealing my mom’s weed. At the age of 14, I moved out of my mom’s house. It started out just smoking weed and drinking alcohol. It progressed very quickly and got out of hand.
I had multiple broken relationships, ending up having four children from four different men. A lot of things I wish I could do differently today. I was in multiple treatment centers, I got arrested multiple times, ended graduating drug corps three different times and nothing, nothing could stop it. It was just out of control.
And it wasn’t until I went to the last treatment center that something clicked. The best way I can describe it is as a spiritual experience. At that point, I reached out to some friends and they brought me to The Grove.
The Grove has given me control. Control is freedom, serenity and love. The Grove became my family. They gave me support and opportunities whenever no one else would. They showed me what real recovery is like.
Recovery is serenity, freedom and hope
